Stuama.ie helps businesses in Ireland research and compare business services. This page explains what the site does, who runs it, how its content is researched and how it is funded.

What Stuama.ie does

Stuama.ie is an information and comparison website for businesses in Ireland. It helps business owners research everyday business services before they speak to a provider: what the options are, what they tend to cost, how they differ and what is worth checking before signing up.

The site currently covers four services:

  • Card Payments: card machines, online payments and the fees that come with them.
  • Accounting Software: bookkeeping, invoicing and VAT tools for sole traders and small companies.
  • Business Websites: website builders, web designers, online shops and running costs.
  • Business Insurance: the main types of cover, what affects the price and how to compare policies.

How Stuama.ie can help

  • Service comparisons. Where it is practical, our service pages set selected providers side by side on the same criteria, using their published standard terms.
  • Provider research. Summaries of what providers offer, taken from their own pricing pages, help centres and terms.
  • Pricing and features. Prices and plan features are shown only where current published information is available, with the date it was checked.
  • Practical guides. Our Business Guides explain how each service works in an Irish context, in plain English.
  • Decision support. Checklists, questions to ask a provider and worked examples. Examples that use made-up figures are labelled as illustrative.
General information, not personal advice Stuama.ie does not know your business’s circumstances, so it does not recommend a particular provider, product or policy for you. Use the site to understand your options, then confirm the details with the provider, or take advice from a suitably qualified professional, before you decide.

What Stuama.ie is not

  • It is not a card payment provider, software company, web designer or insurer, and it does not sell any of the services it covers.
  • It is not an insurance intermediary. It does not provide insurance quotes, arrange cover or handle claims.
  • It is not an accountant, tax adviser, solicitor or financial adviser, and nothing on the site is legal, accounting, tax, financial or insurance advice.
  • It is not a regulator or government body.
  • It does not compare every provider available in Ireland. Our comparisons cover selected providers, and each page says which ones.

How our content is researched

We build pages from primary sources wherever we can. In practice that means giving priority to:

  • regulators and government bodies, such as Revenue, the Central Bank of Ireland, the Data Protection Commission and the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC);
  • legislation, through the Irish Statute Book and, for EU rules, EUR-Lex;
  • official statistics, such as those published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) and the Companies Registration Office (CRO);
  • providers’ own published pages for their prices, features and terms.

Facts that change, such as fees, plan features and regulatory rules, are checked against those sources rather than taken from secondary summaries. Where we cannot confirm a changing figure, we leave it out or explain the point in general terms instead of guessing. Our Editorial Standards set out the full approach.

Who operates Stuama.ie

Stuama.ie is operated by Paul Hudson, trading as Magenta Online Marketing, in Ireland. Paul Hudson is responsible for what is published on the site, including how pages are researched, written and updated, and for its commercial relationships.

Paul Hudson, trading as Magenta Online Marketing, also operates CompareInsuranceIreland.ie, the website that provides the business insurance comparison and quote service linked from Stuama.ie. That relationship is explained under How Stuama.ie is funded below.

How Stuama.ie is funded

Stuama.ie is free to use. Some pages offer a route to a related or partner service, and the operator of Stuama.ie may gain commercially when a reader uses one.

At present, the only such route is for business insurance. Business insurance comparisons and quote requests are provided through CompareInsuranceIreland.ie. CompareInsuranceIreland.ie is a separate website with the same operator as Stuama.ie. Stuama.ie’s own business insurance pages are general information; they do not provide a quote, recommend a policy or arrange cover.

Stuama.ie is not a partner of the card payment or accounting software providers named in its comparisons. Its business websites content does not compare individual providers; platforms such as Wix, Squarespace, Shopify and WooCommerce are named only as examples. Links to those providers’ websites are there so you can check the source for yourself. The Our Partnerships page explains all of this in more detail.

Keeping commercial and editorial decisions separate

Because the business insurance route has a commercial element, we do not describe Stuama.ie as free of commercial interests. What we do commit to is this:

  • commercial arrangements do not decide what a page states as fact;
  • no provider is guaranteed positive coverage, and no provider can pay to change what a page says about it;
  • where a link leads to a service connected to Stuama.ie, the page says so next to the link.
