Cookie Policy
How Stuama.ie uses cookies and similar technologies, what is in use today, and how to change or withdraw your choice at any time.
What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files that a website can save in your browser so it can recognise a choice or a device later. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, do the same job in a different way. Irish law (the ePrivacy Regulations 2011) requires a website to get your consent before storing or reading information on your device, unless it is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for. This policy covers cookies and similar technologies alike, and follows the Data Protection Commission’s guidance on cookies and other tracking technologies.
Current position
Stuama.ie uses Google Analytics 4 for website usage statistics, only if you consent. It does not use advertising, remarketing or social media tracking.
The technologies in use are:
- security and delivery technology operated by Cloudflare, our hosting provider;
- Cloudflare Turnstile, a security check that runs on our Contact page only;
- your cookie choice, which Stuama.ie saves in your browser’s local storage (not as a cookie);
- Google Analytics 4 and its analytics cookies, only after you consent (see Optional analytics).
Our fonts are stored on our own site, so no separate font service is involved.
Strictly necessary technologies
These are needed for the website to work safely and to remember your choice. They do not need your consent and cannot be switched off in Cookie Settings, but you can block or delete them in your browser (see Browser controls).

Cloudflare security and delivery
Stuama.ie is hosted on Cloudflare, which delivers the site and protects it against malicious traffic. Cloudflare may place strictly necessary security cookies when its security features check a visit. We do not control the exact names or durations of these cookies; Cloudflare describes them in its Cloudflare cookies documentation. See also the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Contact form security check (Cloudflare Turnstile)
Our Contact page uses Cloudflare Turnstile to confirm that a message is being sent by a person rather than an automated program, usually without you needing to do anything. Turnstile loads a script from challenges.cloudflare.com on the Contact page only; it is not loaded on any other page. It is a security measure needed for the contact form to work safely, so it is treated as strictly necessary and is not controlled by Cookie Settings. We do not use it for analytics or advertising. Cloudflare manages any storage the check uses; see the Turnstile privacy information.
The contact form itself does not set cookies or save what you type in your browser. How your message is handled is explained in our Privacy Policy.
How your choice is stored
When you choose “Accept” in the cookie banner, or “Reject non-essential” or “Save preferences” in Cookie Settings, Stuama.ie saves your choice in your browser’s local storage under the name stuama_cookie_consent. It records whether optional analytics is on or off, the date of your choice, and which analytics service (if any) the choice applies to. It is not a cookie and is not sent to us. It stays in your browser so that the banner does not reappear on every page.
Nothing optional is switched on by default. Closing Cookie Settings without saving does not switch anything on.
Optional analytics
Stuama.ie uses Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand in aggregate how visitors use the website, such as which pages are viewed, how far pages are scrolled and which links to other websites are followed. Analytics is optional and switched off until you consent by choosing “Accept” or switching Analytics on in Cookie Settings. Until then, Google Analytics is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising or remarketing, and Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off.

External websites
Stuama.ie links to providers, regulators, official sources and CompareInsuranceIreland.ie, where business insurance comparisons and quote requests are provided. Following a link does not set a cookie on Stuama.ie. Once you are on another website, that website may set its own cookies under its own cookie and privacy policies, which we do not control.
Managing and withdrawing consent
On your first visit, a banner at the bottom of the screen offers two options:
- Accept: switches on optional analytics (Google Analytics 4);
- Cookie Settings: opens a panel where Necessary is always active and Analytics is off unless you switch it on. Choose “Reject non-essential” to keep optional analytics off, or “Save preferences” to save the setting you have chosen.
Until you make a choice, nothing optional is switched on.
You can reopen Cookie Settings at any time using the “Cookie Settings” option in the Legal section of the footer on every page, and change or withdraw your choice as easily as you gave it. Your choice applies across the whole site. If you switch analytics off after accepting it, Google Analytics stops collecting data and its _ga cookies are removed from Stuama.ie.
If JavaScript is turned off in your browser, the banner and Cookie Settings do not appear, and no optional technologies can run.
Browser controls
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and clear local storage through their settings; see your browser’s help pages. Clearing your browser’s storage for Stuama.ie also clears your cookie choice, so the banner will appear again. Blocking all cookies may affect how some websites work, including security checks on other sites.
How long your choice lasts
Your choice lasts for about six months (183 days) from when you make it, unless you change it, clear your browser’s storage, or we introduce or change an analytics service. After that, the banner appears again so you can confirm your preference. The Data Protection Commission’s guidance treats six months as the outer limit for storing consent.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the technologies used on Stuama.ie change, and before introducing any optional technology. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
